pedialyte-nasty

I wanted something to help with dehydration on trackdays...
water and gatoraide worked ok, but thought there might be something better...
pedialyte was suggested...
I went and bought some... twice to three times more expensive than gatoraide, depending on where you buy it....
I had never tried it before, they did not have it around when i had kids 40 years ago...
i am not sure how parents get their kids to drink this nasty ...
I put it over ice and got it good and cold, that way I can hold my nose and drink it...
it better work real well...

Yep, grape Pedialite works awesome on Texas track days!!! HIGHLY recommend it. I take two with me for a single day. Drink about a quarter of a bottle after a session, then probably 32-48 oz of water before going back out. I'll throw in 8-16 oz of Gatorade between sessions too. After my last session, I'll finish off whatever is left of the Pedialite, and drink another gallon of water before bed (usually).

Remember, don't JUST drink Pedialite! You have to drink more water than Pedialite. Or mix it into your waters.

There is some Cherry flavor at the store by my house I saw yesterday. I may try that this weekend.

And yes, keep it on ice in the cooler while not drinking.

get the non flavored and mix it with gatorade... it helps but i totally agree, no matter what it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

i just make sure to hydrate a day or two ahead, and keep well hydrated during the day. you've seen me, i'm a husky fella lol... i used to ride all day friday (trackday), do at least 2 (1 hour+) stints during endurance on saturday, then do 4-6 sprint races sunday. the more you ride the better off you'll be.

yep says to refrigerate after opening... and it says not to drink with water for its intended purpose, but for the way we are going to use it, I will use water just like i do with gatoraide.

Tony is right, and I'm sure you've all heard it before. Hydrate a day or two before!!!!!! I already drink at least gallon and a half a day, and I'm trying to get 2 gallons a day in now. Thursday and Friday, I'll be going for 3 gallons! The older I get, the more of those dehydration headaches I get out in this stupid Texas heat! And like Tony said, the more you do this, the easier it gets as your body grows accustomed to it. My first year instructing, by the afternoons I would be on the track for every group's sessions helping different friends. I'd stay out for all 3 levels, and on... Just come in to pee and drink some fluids, then head right back out. This is why one of my suits has tons of salt stains! Haha
