Moving to Houston

Hey guys, looks like I'll be moving to Houston from NC for a new gig this fall. Heard about this forum on wristtwisters and thought I'd join up.

I currently ride a 2002 919,my second bike. My first was a 2006 599 that was totaled when I got rear ended in traffic three weeks into my riding career. I picked up the 919 last September and been riding the out of it ever since. I put 8000 miles on her in 9 months. Which might not be much to most but i'm proud of it.

Anyway, I look forward to getting some advice before this big move ,which is pretty nerve racking, and hopefully be able to get some cool people to ride with once I get down there.

Thanks for the welcome guys, and yeah I've been looking at houses in Katy. We will be renting a place for a while, probably until our house in NC sells which will take some time. Most of the stuff I found in Sugarland is outta my price range though, looking to rent a small house, hopefully in the 900-1200 range.

What tracks do you guys ride near Houston? I've been wanting to do a track day up here but the nearest is VIR and it's still about 3 hours away. Hopefully I can get on the track when I get down there.

Welcome. The two closest tracks are MSRH in Angleton (30 miles south of Houston) and GSS (about 20 miles SE of Houston).

If he's moving to Katy he'll also only be roughly an hour from TWS (Texas World Speedway) as well.

TWS (Texas World Speedway) isn't that far and worth the drive, maybe an hour from Katy?

That sounds awesome to have tracks that close. I also see that the prices are pretty cheap? I saw 100-150 or something. Up here it's like 215 and you have to be a member of a track club.

Also, I see a lot of you guys work in oil and gas (surprise, surprise). I'm taking a job with Fugro GEOS, anyone work for Fugro or know much about them?
