kind of depends on what class you would like to ride in...
from my observation the most popular is the xr/crf100 with various mods according to the riders desires...
the klx110
the kx 65
NSR50
ysr50
i think thomas rides an RM65
and there are a few others, but that is most of what i have seen.

and the bikes range from just about stock to as tricked out as they want, again depending on what the rider wants to do.

yes guests are allowed, if your son is under 18 you would need a waiver signed by both parents...
you can down load the waivers on the Gulf coast karters web site...
any guest is supposed to sign a waiver, they can be left in the mail box at the track though, they do not have to be mailed in....
I think by the rules as they are written, the guest is supposed to ride a bike owned by who ever takes them, but have not seen that worried about too much...
the bike you ride should be set up for track riding, no dirt tires and should have a catch bottle to keep any fluids off the track, the rider must have protective gear on...

yes, oops.. two stroke or 4 stroke...
i think if it is two stroke a 72cc (water cooled) would be max allowed, but I can check on that...
this is my first year racing and am not up on all the rules for classes I have not raced in.
but if you are just talking about going out to ride the track, I think the track rules max size is a 150, but do not quote me on that.

yep it is in the katy area, but it is a Kart track...
it is a small track where we race texas mini gp bikes...
it is a load of fun and racing that does not kill the pocket book...
you can check it out at the texas mini grand prix website....
our next race however will be at the track in denton in two weeks...
some of us are thinking of getting together and doing a little practice on the 4th..
i have done some motor work and changed carbs, so i need to see how it is going to run before the race in denton....if you are in the area you are more than welcome to come by and check it out.

I might come out. I will have to see if I can run them a check tomorrow and renew my membership.

I would imagine there will be a lot of karters there by 10:00 to 11:00. I've never been questioned when my membership was current, but the karters always would give us dirtly looks and would sometimes hog the track and not let us go out.

Have ya'll had any issues lately?

I have had no issues the few times i have been there when there were karters there.
we took turns going out.
I plan on being there by 8 and get some run time on the new motor, I will only be running around 2/3 throttle for awhile and i will try to stay as close to the line as my slow speed will allow so you guys can go around me with out any problem.
Joey, if you want to see what it feels like, you can come out tomorrow and do some laps on my bike, i have to get it broke in before the denton races... i plan on running 8 to 10 laps at a time with cool down between rounds and pick up speed each round.
if we are concerned about time sharing if the karters show up, the more of us there are out there, the better.. i know the karters would feel better about coming off so that a bunch of bikes could ride than they would if there were only one bike... I have been there when there were only 3 bikes and they still shared with no problem.
