Getting ready for the strip

Well it's come down to a hard decision for me and after some thought I'm getting ready to turn the 10 in to a strictly strip bike. Well at least it will be strip oriented with very little street time. After my last wreck my hands and wrist can't take moderate (45-90 min) rides any longer. I got my new swingarm installed last night and the head should be ready sometime very soon. Anyone on here run out at HMP? my other question is I am looking for a sidewinder for a gen 1 zx10 any help would be awesome :thumbs:Click image for larger version

No strip people here. Just track snobs who prefer to lean and will let you know it.

I prefer lean myself, but we have plenty that hit the strip as well.

Well like i said I'm kinda forced in to this. It's either ride it a little bit or don't ride it at all, and no, stopping at closer more frequent intervals does not help.

I've already got an RPM lo-pro oil pan and a 600 dollar set of steels and discs off the clutch of my last 10. The head was ported and polished already but I've just got to get it freshened up a little. RPR is Baytown isn't it? What are the requirements to run out there? All I've ever ran before was 1/8th at HMP or down here in Angleton but that's been over two years ago.

Yes it's Baytown. You will likely end up needing an NHRA license. Google RPR for specifics on requirements.

Only if you are faster than 9.99? You should look into getting your license anyway, it is good experience. You will need a full suit, gloves and boots if you are planning on going faster than 11.0, which I am certain you are! Have fun!

The bike is capable of sub 9.99. The leather comes in to play above 120 mph. A 600cc will do that.

Well I know on my last set up my fat went 5.9x at 129 at HMP. But I only had links on the arm and it spun the first 40 foot.

Andy, there is a lot of drag guys on zx-10r.net that ride Gen1's.
That would be a good resource for advice/tips on setting up your drag bike

Whats up with the 06/07 in the background?

5.9 has been my best at HMP. Its a good track and hooks real good. I just don't care for the short runs. I prefer the crowd at RPR too.

The 06 is my buddy's he's waiting on an oil pan and his head to get put on. I'll try out ZX-10r.net. I'm just wanting to find a few more local people to meet up with at the track lol.

And I'm glad to hear I'm not too behind as far as the time goes. I thought I was slower than . But I didn't let it bother me because I also weigh about 100 pounds heavier than all the paid jockeys out there.
