I've got an idea for a n00b ride with 2 groups. I'm going to talk to the necessary people and get it together.

Have the MH community set up a grading system. All new comers have to do 5 Noob Only rides before they get a small MH sticker to put on the windscreen. That qualifies you to ride on Non-Noob rides.

If you have a wreck, you remove your "Non-Noob MH Sticker" from your windscreen and have to do 5 more Noob-Only rides.

The Non-Noob ride leader checks all the windscreens before a ride to make sure a Noob hasn't snuck in.

I've got my tail-light in, and I'm fabbing up my lic plate holder now. I will be ready to go after this upcoming weekend.

If you guys want to set something up, I'll gladly run my group ride method with 2 groups or one noob, and I'll lead the noob group or stay right behind a navigator if its just one. Haven't ran 362 in a while, so I don't remember the route.

We will run the ride under these circumstances/rules:
http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=213475

Let me know if anyone is interested. I can do it either 14th, 21st, or 22nd.

Just hate seeing us noobs getting in over our heads and paying the consequences! I've pushed the envelope a time or two! Just lucky (...or luckier than lucky, as it were) I guess!

It happens. Its just unfortunate that the rider that went down was the one saying he was ready for a faster group. We can't be policing the groups, takes a man to know when he is or is not ready. Regardless this will be a cheap lesson, and glad he was ok

It is probably better that someone pushes the limits in a group, instead of off by themselves. At least in a group, there is someone there to:

A. Possibly catch mistakes before they become fatal
B. Give points to improve on
C. Pick up the pieces if A & B fail.

Like Dirty Harry says," A man's got to know his limitations!"

Man this thread has gotten really long... I think I did about 4 noob rides before I went joined the faster group the last time Lucar held it. Worked out just fine. It isn't up to anyone but yourself to determine which group you belong in.

With that said, on the last ride, the two group format worked fine. I think the slower group left 5-10 minutes after the fast group left.

I can't do it the 15th because of a concert, but made the 14th with a rain out of the 21st?

...and it just meant they didn't have to stand around as long while the fast group occupied all the gas pumps.

Two groups is great IMO... if you try the fast group, and feel uncomfortable or find yourself hanging off the back hauling in the straights to catch up... then you can just bump yourself down to the slower group. That was my intention... turns out I'm fine at the back of the fast group.
