new pit bike for 4

Ok so let me start by saying i know notging about the dirtbike game smalk or large...
now that being said, i keep seeing 50's. For sale for like1000$ and more(with some mods) but almost 10 yrs old. Now this bije is new for 450$. If im just looking for a pit bike and maybe something to teach my son on is this a good deal? Will it last more than a. Week? And it doesnt show a name either so im assuming its some off brand but it is gas and goes 40mph(suposedly).. idk just curious

Not sure about that particular brand. Most of the knock off 50s I've seen were complete trash. Poorly made parts abound. Usually they handle just as bad as they're built.

The Hondas hold value really well because they're built to last. I know that sounds cliche, but it's definitely the truth. Huge aftermarket support keeps any repair costs to a minimum. Easy to work on. Can take some serious abuse and never quit.

Ultimately it's your money to spend. For as much fun as I have with my 50 and the amount of abuse I subject it to (2-3 concrete rub downs a weekend on average) I would be hesitant to rely on a cheaper substitute.

I will add that most of the people I know that have bought used 50s have done so for less than $1k. I picked up an '07 for $650 that was in near perfect condition with a big bar kit already installed. You just have to shop around. Hit C/L. Talk to some of our resident mini-madmen. Magicman and Kdog might be helpful in sourcing a used one for a good deal if they're feeling helpful.

I've seen those cheap Honda clones start to fall apart in just a few weeks. They are made of cheap parts and you will get what you pay for. Wheels fall apart. I've heard of frequent carb issues. Parts bend or crack especially with adult riders.

It's worth it to hold out for a stock honda 50 for $500-$600 because that value won't really depreciate.

I picked up an 03 for my boys for 400.00, all it needed was a rear tube and a carb cleaning.

Shop around they are out there.

Its still in the garage if we can figure it out, depending on your kids size it may be a little big to ride solo, but you can ride with him on it, I do with my boy all the time. Also it has a clutch so would be harder to teach a new rider on.

Whatever you do DONT BUY A CHONDA!!
