on the other side, this seems to be popping up all over... the photography is not a crime site has linked and posted commentary about it and it seems some people have already been contact the sheriff's dept? with complaints about the leo's actions.

Sad fact of reality, the actions of some can negatively impact the experience/life of someone who may be innocent. :-)

Forreal? My bike gets around 40-50 mpg when I do the speed limit. It came from the factory like that. You think its a dismissable offense if I bring the spec sheet to court and show them the factory's fuel consuption specs?

It is 20 mph over, and you can be arrested for it.

For a reckless driving charge, your actions have to be "willful and wanton" according to the penal code. 30 over is not necessarily reckless. 30 over weaving in and out of traffic, or running stop signs/red lights is.

I took defensive driving a few years ago with a guy that got a ticket and was sent on his way for 150 in a 60. Two members of this forum, whose names will not be mentioned, were pulled over for 130 and sent on their way without even receiving a written warning.

sorry, slip-up meant miles per hour-its late or early.

you don't have to be weaving in and out, or running stop lights, just driving or riding to fast. And it is completely the discretion of the cop. Not long ago I was pulled over on the feeder near I45 & airtex for going 85mph in A 50mph zone by DPS and he is the one that told me this, he also said he would give me a break and wrote me a ticket which cost me out the a$$.

you can go to jail for reckless driving, which is a totally different charge from speeding. It is pretty much officer discretion as to if your recklessly driving or not. as for the members going way over speed limit that werent ticketed...... Pretty sure they were being dicks to the cops when they were pulled over.

True you can get a ticket for reckless driving, and speeding on the same offence, but you can go to jail for reckless driving depending on the cop and your attitude.

What not to do

1. When being lit up, make a "WTF?" gesture with your hand
2. Stop between the exit ramp and feeder like a idiot
3. Tell a cop what he can and cannot do
4. Use obscenities
5. Argue with a cop
6. Fail to follow instructions

Reckless driving is not speeding, nor is it the cause of the charge.
