exhaust leak

sounds like my header is leaking. is there any fix for this or do i need a new header.

Check the bolts and studs on the exhaust manifold. If they're tight then try changing the gasket or gaskets if they're individual.

Try retorqueing the headers bolts/nuts then like posted above change out the ex maniflold gaskets.

U will see either black soot around the header or u can hear the "tick" from the leak. Also try and carefully feel air around the header....

sorry it took so long to reply. i took the fairing off found the loose bolt, tightened the bolt and took off. just finally got back home 2 days later.

You can take a spay bottle, fill it up with some water and dish detergent then spray around the header when the engine is on and idle to see if any of the spot starts to bubbling up to check for leak.

A piece of vacuum hose held up to your ear works too, run the other end around all the header tubes and connections and u should find it, kind of like holding a long screwdriver up to your ear and touching things to find bearing type noises
