I'm pretty sure not even the 2012 Ninja 250 has fuel injection.

It's a 2000. I doubt any Ninja 250 were FI back then. fact that the owner(s) made a big deal of the FI (decals on bike), it probably is a retrofit system. With only 2cyl and such small displacement, it may not be all that difficult to swap in either an OEM FI from overseas or an aftermarket unit. Either way, diagnostic or repairs is gonna be difficult, unless you familiar with how it was put together in the first place.

At $2k+, I'd rather spend a couple more grand and get a CBR250 with factory FI, if I were in the market for a 250.

All the 250 in the US have carbs
Kawasaki said 2013 would bring FI to the US
Overseas 250 are FI UK,Brasil EX...
You can buy a FI kit and make the 250 FI ur self

I have the ecotrons FI kit myself. If he has the european throttle boddy it is difinately a nice edition. Doesn't carry that many advantages over carbs, except cold start and no needle shimming.

I think it's a little overpriced though. $2000 would be more like it.
