That happened to me just over a year ago. However, my jacket had to get all the zippers replaced because of it. I just took it to a dry cleaning place and they got me fixed up.

Kinda random, but when I was riding down 45 this afternoon a plastic grocery bag flew up in the air and got caught on my front fender. I was like WTF. I backed off to keep a safe distance from the car in front of me and leaned over my handle bars and tried to grab it. I got it loose and then it started flapping around under my handlebars so I just sat back down, reached down, yanked it out and tossed it at the dude driving behind me

I'd be concerned that the zipper repair isn't up to par with factory standards, since safety gear has to be significantly more robust that your average jacket. Most of my motorcycle gear I've noticed is triple stitched.
