Martinez's Rebuild Thread (And Here We Go!!!)

For those who don't know.. My good old friend Dave went down at TWS (Texas World Speedway) on the 28th.

Here is a video of what went down that day.. I was right in front of him coming out of turn 6 when it happened.

Now.. we are planning on making it a track bike.

Here are some pictures on how the bike looked after the crash.

P1040957800x600

P1040959800x600

P1040962800x600

P1040967800x600

REAR TIRE

P1040964800x600

FRONT TIRE

P1040966800x600

I took it all apart tonight and this is where I'm at.

P1040981800x600

P1040983800x600

P1040984800x600

P1040982800x600

After all is set and done.. this is what we are hopping to come up with.

Tony from "House Of Paint" got the fairings on order and once he gets them will be painting them

This is what we are going for or something really close to it (Martinez edition)

cool..that's going to look good..

.that crash was weird...can't figure out why it happened...no reason to brake...not too low for front or rear end to wipe out....what caused it?....rear slid out and hooked up?

He was moving really good out there (As you can see in the video) it was about 15 minutes into the session where out of nowhere the rear tire gave up coming out of the turn, I followed him for about 2 laps before I made a pass on him on turn #5.. once we came out of 6, I looked back and he was flipping at that time.

after asking around, the only thing we can come up with is that the tires got "HOT" witch in this case became greasy from the heat.

The only 2 ways this would have been prevented would have been by ether slowing down.. or increasing the tire pressure so the tires didn't get as hot as they did. (so I've been told)

Considering the wreck, the damage really isn't that bad, glad to see the bike getting a make over.

How's Martinez's injury coming along? I was at TWS (Texas World Speedway) that day, I have a buddy (Mark Shim) that was a pitting with you guys. I was on the Yellow Ducati in level 1.
