Building a motard out of my KE100. Decent power up to about 60mph, and loud as with a good expansion chamber. Wheelies pretty easy in 1st & 2nd. What more do you need?

I would say a 350 would be the smallest. The dr 350 tomball d has may do the trick. Plus no one would have one, just u.

True 225-250 leave u beggin for more on the freeway.

That's the thing. If all you want to do is ride on the freeway, a supermoto isn't for you. Freeway here and there is fine but that's not why you buy one IMO.

When I think of supermoto, I think "hooliganism". A 250 would be able to make for plenty hooliganism to keep me happy.

Some of us use our bikes to go places. That means 290, I 10, 59, 45. In nicks case sure a 225, 230, 250 would be great round town.

If u do get used to topping out at 80ish

Speed limit is 60-65mph, no need to top out.

Size matters relevance....

This afternoon. I went from Clearlake to Eldridge/I10 for a shoot then from there back to my home south of Manvel on 288.... BW8 up and 10-59-288 back....

All at 75-90 mph

My scoot still has the dirt wheels and ammo can panniers which act like big air brakes but realisticly 80-85 is half throttle cruising which really doesn't give you
a whole lot for passing.

A smaller bike will be worse...

Plus the upright riding position as opposed to leaning forward is hard on the back with that much wind on your chest.

Just things to think about....

Tomballs scooter would be a nice one on the cheap.

You don't say?

I get what you're saying. Just making a basic point that you don't buy one of these bikes for highway road trips.

I see your point but this is Houston, nothing is really close by. Yea hwy speed limits at 65-70 but u dont want a bike that will be running at WOT just to keep up on the HWY. Most ppl arent going to just drive around thier neighborhood.

I live in Downtown (where 99% of our shenanigans were located) and i still needed to hop on the freeway. Our tuesday night Motard rides started off on 5 miles of freeway......

I wouldn't consider a few miles here and there driving around Houston "highway road trips". Either way a converted supermoto bike 450 or 250 will need frequent attention to engine maintenance.

Agree...for a first motard set up I would consider something less maintenance intense i.e. DRZ400 I dont know enough of the DR350 but Im sure it will work also.
