Ive got the GPX. I'm biased, but its well worth every penny you pay.

I bought harry's lap timer app for 20 bucks and and external gps for iphone for 99 i think and that thing is unbelievable. It has all the tracks loaded and you can combine the iphone video with the data by pushing one button. Not sure how you would mount it on the bike but for car track days it works wonder with a suction cup mount by RAM.

I wouldn't want to crash and be out both my phone and lap timer.

You have a point.

I plan on using it on my car at the track more than the bike. The advantage is that this is not just a lap timer but gives you video with data (speed, best lap, etc) all combined.

Will post up a video when I have one

Just got back from a ride and used this app. It is pretty awesome. It tracks your speed and lean angle on graph that you can scroll through. It also plots your route on a satellite map. It appears you can only extract the results via facebook. I tried publishing it, but it didn't seen to work.

By the way, your iPhone doesn't have to be mounted on the bike, it can be in the front pocket of your leathers where it'll just assist in breaking a rib AND destroying your phone if you go down. Made that mistake snowboarding once with a camera.

Ive used it, and its decent, I also purchased Harry's Laptimer pro ($24.99) on the iphone and its even better. But neither compare to the GPX PRO and all that you can do with it.

It ISNT CHEAP, but normally the better products dont sell themselves short.

To the people who worry about their iPhones on the bikes, no need. if its mounted well, it will be fine. If not, the phone is the least of your worries. Ive velcroed both my iPhone and the GPX pro and crashed with the gpx pro at 100+, the GPX pro is just fine.

, that is a chunck of change for a lap timer. I have not checked HOP price, but better than $650 on line.. wow...
for that kind of money I would be looking for something to cut my lap time, not tell me what it is.

1hz is the polling rate for the Iphone GPS IIRC. The nicer GPS laptimers have faster polling rates for better breakdowns of performance.

Those times record data that can be downloaded and scrutinized through accompanying software.

With the proper sensors attached you can mount the device on two different bikes to compare rider performance. Want to see why and how that other guy is faster than you? The data can tell you who is braking where, applying throttle, lean angle, lines. It's a phenomenal tool for riders looking to squeeze that extra bit from their skill set.

That being said it's probably not much more than a cool toy for most of us who have a long way to go before we're pushing the limits of anything other than our wallets.

Or if you only want to log the data and don't need to see laptimes on the fly:

Do you know if the software for this has the tracks pre-loaded?

This is a video from last Sat using Harry's Laptimer Pro on my I-phone.

The one thing I hate is that it splits the laps when you combine the video with the data so you end up with a bunch of one lap videos.
