Royal Purple?

My dad is riding his Vision down from Maine in July, and will need to get the oil changed when he gets down here. Any motorcycle shops stock Royal Purple? I dont know if its easy to get a hold of, I dont use it....he just asked me to find out.

u know Royal Purple loses a lot of it's composition for some reason. Personal experience. I switched to Mobil. Haven't tried others.. but it would just be too expensive for me to change oil the way I dump miles on my bike.

I've been thinking of switching to Mobil 1 synthetic. I need to do some research. P.o. Ran royal people in it so that's what I've put in it.

I'd actually like to see what happens when you run Royal People through a bike . . . bet the Queen gets ..... LOL
I haven't checked lately, but RP didn't make a synthetic "for bikes" like mobil ! does. I run M1 and never ran RP so really - - - I can't say anything about performance comparisons.

Seen it at wal mart the other day. Think advanced auto also carries it

I run Mobil 1 bike oil, they make a v twin specific oil

Local shop I trust said they've seen some internals of bikes that run RP and it wasn't good

been using RP oil in my bikes for years, never had any problems, go about 15G tween changes, never had any buildup of crud my tranny and other internals are better than natural and even mobile 1 that uses Lubrizol products as modifiers and ALL Mobile oils use Lubrizol additive packages and ALL Castrol Oils are pure Lubrizol Products. so choose what you want and don't believe any of that BS that Mobile or Amsoil or any other oil producer says, its all in an attempt to market a product and like Obama they lie like cheap rugs.

No, I change it every 3k miles.....With the amount of time it takes me to put that many miles on due to work, its more changing it because of how old the oil is, not so much because its dirty.

noted.. how many months is it supposed to be between changes? i went through 7500 miles in 4 months. In my case, if I used Amsoil, how many miles should I change it vs Mobil?

The only real way to tell when your supposed to change it is to send it out and get it tested. I probably dont need to change it when I do, but its just piece of mine for me.

Just a heads up everyone AUTOMOTIVE oils has detergents in them that tend to effect the wear, and performance on wet clutches. They also lack the anti foaming agents needed for our hi revving engines. So at 11,000rpm inestead of your cams recieving a steady stream of oil to the journals, your getting churned up oxygenated oil to vital engine parts.

Somthin to think about.

seems RP is not too great on this site... Amsoil and Motul are held in high regards...

Never seen a clutch go due to oil. Hundreds of drag passes on my last clutch with non moto specific oil
