I believe they already make a 795 locally in India, using the 796 engine with a 696 swingarm. Corporations will follow the money.

Dosen't matter who makes it, as long as it is made to spec. Do you have a problem with brown? Come at me bro! That's what's wrong with this country. People like you make me clean my weapons three times a week!!!
p.s. I hate stray cats!.

1st they get sold to Deiter and Hanz. Now they want to make them in India. The only thing keeping it Italian is the maintenance schedule.

Well iPhone 4 is made in pretty much every southeast Asian country and assembled in China, and it's still the best piece of electronic equipment out there, so why not?

That article was from March 5. Audi has purchased Ducati since then.

The biggest problem I have with the idea is,
traditionally Ducati has been a brand that had a mystique. It was "Italian" so it was beautiful, exotic, temperamental and wonderful.
If they made a move to India they would lose that and just become another mass produced appliance, the same way as bikes.

nah, it most likely will not. Thaz when the "branding" comes along to play from all these years. People might be skeptical about it toward quality and all at the beginning, but soon they will accept that fact. On top of that, the price might be lower, which would help increase their sale. So everybody wins.

As long as the bikes get assembled in Italy, with the attendant "built-in character", they won't have any problem with their mystique no matter where the individual parts are made.
