Looks like I see pinholes due to bondo or the resin. It is hard to tell if it is pin holes in the resin, bondo or the paint itself (fish eyes). It appears to be the bondo. You can get rid of them with spot putty. But then again, the camera does weird things and I am a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff. I am good at fixing glass so I might be to harder on you than others. Ask Tom about some of the stuff I had to fix out of nothing. When I crashed the racebike I tore the entire tailsection up and they thought it was a lost cause. Then a few days later they were like ! lol. I have done a lot of glass work in the past and I have lots of professional body shop and painter friends. So if you need some assistance, let me know sometime.

just kidding, this was the very first time i did anything like this, we weren't really going for the perfect job, i didnt take the time to fix every little detail, there is a a lot of rock chips that we didn't fill in and yes there are pin holes in the resin. Overall i think i did an okay job on the fiberglass work, i was working on fixing the parts that were torn and ripped up and not on filling in all the holes and blemishes. prolly not something that you or tom would be proud of but, i'm one impatient person.

Yeah, Carbon is right. We weren't going for perfect with these. This was a learning project for both of us and most of the repair work we did was focused on the many many many cracks and holes in the fiberglass and not worried much at all with the nicks and chips. Next time around we'll go for the small details and a perfect look. Maybe you can help us out then Brian with some advice when the time comes?

Nice pics James. I can't wait to see them after the clearcoat is shot on them.

the FREE work is over!

Derek was here to help me out quite a bit, we learned a few things together, I didn't do all the work myself so, he should be able to replicate everything that we've done together.

i did my one donor job, i wanted to work with Dereks glass, it was really trashed, you couldn't see the damage in any pics he could've posted. I don't really have the proper tools to do the job "right"! You near could have literally folded parts of it. It was a good fiberglass learning pc. which was very easy by the way, the hard part is cleaning it up and smooting it out, lots of small pin holes in the resin. I enjoy doing it, and like Tom said " it's fun while its a hobby, but when it's a job, it becomes a job. I can't wait to do my own now, i'm kinda excited to finish up my own stuff, i was really wanting to get his done and i took some chances when the weather was questionable but luckilly it turned out pretty good. As soon as it's cleared and cured for a week or so, Derek and I plan on getting the bike over here to "Carbons Garage" mounting up the glass and get it ready to hit the track pipe. We have to drill one hole for mounting that was totally gone, i had to put glass over it.

And thanks to Tony for offering to shoot the Automotive Clear Coat on it once we had it finished.
