Cool pet peeve--agressive bicycles

MH,

Driving my cage last evening in Sugar Land I was cut off by a bicyclist in full racing gear. He took the full turn lane with a fast off the seat pumping motion (25 mph+), then he blew through the red arrow and busy intersection and proceeded into our subdivision.

I was tempted to talk to him, but decided to let it pass. Agressive bicycle riders really irritate me. My home town (Durango, CO) is well known for problem bicycle riders, frequent crashes, and lawsuits, and a lot of conflict with cars, pedestrians and such.

The other two-wheelers rarely obey the law. It sucks.

Vent over.

Look at it this way - WHEN you hit one, they wont damage your car much, and since they're obligated to obey the rules just like cages are, you wont have to worry about being responsible for the accident.

Personally, I think its pretty damned stupid to play chicken with something that outweighs you by 10 to 15 orders of magnitude, but, that's their choice.

Just make sure you get em with the bumper - cyclist guts are a to get out of the grille.

Mmm.... I wonder how badly the ARB bumper on my truck would mess up a cyclist that blew through a red light or stop sign.

They should have their bicycle registered with the state of Texas and pay a fee to use the road like everybody else out there. I wouldn't mind making them have some kind of liability insurance either.

Yeah that is the only time bicyclists annoy me. I don't mind giving them their space and driving 15 miles an hour behind them, or making sure I give them more than enough space when I pass. They get the road by law and I have no problem with that but if I have to stop at stop signs, stop lights, signal before turns, then they do too. I am no saint but I ask them for the same courtesy that I extend to them and others on the road of following the laws governing the road... aside from the speed limit which admittedly is a hard one for me to follow in my cage...

I love stopping bicyclists. Especially the nerds with the fancy shoes that clip on to the pedals because it takes effort to stop.

Most cyclist have vehicles too, it's just their recreation vehicle.

If ya'll want me to pay based on weight and road use (isn't that what it's based on?) I'll gladly pay my $10 to have everyone quit about that. , I'll pay it for all 3 of my bikes if will quit their whining. Like me having $30 less in my account makes ANY difference to YOUR prescious road.

Yep. You see all sorts of crazy when you are on a bicycle and watch the various waves of traffic.

I will NEVER ride a sidewalk... it is the most dangerous place to ride a bike, unless you are riding at walking pace and stopping at every driveway, and giving right of way to every car that may or may not turn at every driveway. FTS.

I stop at all stop signs (even with clippy shoes... I might even hipster-track-stand a light or two, just for cool points), obey one way streets, and all laws of the road. Don't punish some cyclists for the behaviors of others... sound like motorcycles much?

For the record, all comments towards the thoughts/words... not the people... cause theres people about this all over.

Never said I was, but, if I blew lights and stop signs, went the wrong way down the street, never signaled my intentions, hopped up on the sidewalk at random intervals and jumped a median just because I felt like it, I'm pretty sure I'd be getting a big honkin' pile of tickets....

I have no problem with cyclists honestly. I don't like the , but that applies to bikers and cagers too.

I will freely admit though that the one time I got stuck behind Critical Mass, it took everything in me and frequent reminders from my wife about just HOW much damage a human body can do to a car to keep myself from turning them into jelly.

THAT is just downright rude. If bikers or cagers did it, we'd all get tickets if not arrested.

I have a vehicle, and I also have a motorcycle for recreation. I pay to use the roads on both.

This will quit whining about it even if it was five dollars.

What about some type of liability insurance?
