Deciding on a bike

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to Houston and unfamiliar with enduro options around here.
I had mostly street bikes (gs500, cbr600, zx-7) and want to try some enduro riding now.
I'm thinking on buying a KTM 350 xcf-w or exc-f, (not much interested in the MX version).
Basically I'm asking is Houston a good place for enduro type riding or am I westing money?

Thanks in advance
Roei.

There's options. Biggest issue is one of the best places near Columbus is Skull Creek and membership is on a waiting list last time I heard. You can ride as a guest with another member, but I would hate to rely on that. Other than that you can hit up Sam Houston Nat'l Forest when it reopens after they inventory all the dead trees. Not sure when that's gonna happen. If you get involved with Trail Riders of Houston I'm sure you could find other opportunities to ride.

You could just get the 300 XCF and have the close ratio gearbox so if you do decide to hit up the occasional MX track you're not too out of place. Of course you could still hit up some MX with the wide ratio gearbox as well.

I had a Husaberg 570 enduro and I loved it. There are plenty of places to ride once you get to know the city. Were you going to make it street legal? Follow the dirt forum for places to ride. Aother guy on here and I checked out the Westpark Tollway place last weekend and it was a blast. Free and easy to get to. There are some guys on the north side that can hook you up with some places and the Katy guys have some places as well. I sold the 570 to buy a TE300 and start racing. There are two organizations that I know of that host races all year round within 2 hours of Houston. There is one this weekend at Cedar Creek that I will be attending.

I have a KTM 350sxf that I use for harescrambles and it has been a great bike. I take it to 3 Palms and Rio Bravo pretty regularly. The race at Cedar creek this weekend should be fun. You can go race or just ride the track all day on Sunday for a small fee.

Nice. I'm slightly biased but KTM's are the . Good choice.
