Advise/Help 3 little things

1. Ok so my bike is due for its second oil change was wondering if i should take it to a shop so they can do the detail stuff or can i start doing it already?

2. What is the average cost for a new hooligan like me for insurance just getting into the motorcycle world? saying you get a new bike from dealer and making payments, and its your fist bike. (I have full covarage I'm just wondering)

3. Once you take all motocycle courses do you have to show proof to the insurance so they can lower the payments or you just tell them i took it and thats it?

Thanks in advance
Appreciate the help

1) I like to do my oil changes myself so I know they are done.
2) If you don't have insurance on your bike... I need to know because that means you shouldn't be on the ride this weekend.
3) I just tell them that I had it... because I had already scheduled the course.

Yeah I was just checking, wasn't trying to offend. I just like to double check stuff since being the leader of a ride is kind of stressful because you are responsible for the riders with you. You don't want to be responsible for riders getting injured, bikes being destroyed or arrests/impounding due to lack of appropriate tags/insurance.

That being said I just paid the insurance on the 250 to guarantee I have it for this Saturday.

I am sure you are capable of doing the oil change yourself but if you need any help/stands/tools you are more than welcome to come change it at my house. I will help.

No worries i didn't take it as that. Its understandable you having to look out for good bit of people and their rides can get pretty hectic. I asked because my insurance is 312 lol i pay more for the insurance than the actual bike.

Am down on tools. there is this huge allen key that i don't have. i have a set just that one is bigger than mine. i don't know what size is that.

I got some large 1/2 in. drive allen... I think from 11 to 13.

Who do you have for insurance? Progressive is the cheapest I have found... but other people say they got good rates at Geico. Also there is a sponsor here that might be able to help.

I have triple A was the best i could find. Progressive = no no for me they wanted 760 as down pay and 5 hundred something a month lol. and Geico though i was a massive hooligan they rediculous didn't want business with me.

I was just wondering if that was normal for a new rider with now experience and a brand new bike.

i'd have to try that size id like to do it this week as soon as possible, and a rear stand would come handy.

The oil change is relatively easy and you should be able to do it yourself. But you could just take it up to motorcycles unlimited and get it done for $49 and while you are there spend the extra $25 and get your suspension set. Highly recommend.

I pay @$40 monthly full coverage on a R1. State Farm is by far the cheapest. Pm Tuan.

Pretty sure you can just tell the insurance since you have to take MSF to get your licence.

Crazy how expensive it is. but i say very worth it, nothing like cruising and feeling the cold air hit you.

So was thinking how often should i be cleaning/lubing the chain?
