I use Sony Vegas platinum HD. Took some getting used to but I like it. Seems like everyone has their own preference though

Go to YouTube and find a video specifying what kind of videos you'd like to put together.

I'd bet that any of the free programs that come with your PC or mac will suffice,

Movie maker is a free windows editor, fairly basic and does degrade quality a bit, but does the job. Vegas and Premiere Pro are WAY better

I use windows movie maker as well as PowerDirector. If you use windows movie maker, you will need a program to convert your mp4 files to a usable format that the program will read.

I'm not sure with PC, since I have switched my video work to Mac.

Gopro has free software:
http://gopro.com/support/cineform-st...tware-support/

It might be supported on PC. This should convert the mp4 to mov if I recall correctly.

Sony Vegas or Pinnacle Studio HD are two great reasonably priced editing software.
Their UI is easy to navigate and give you many different vediting options with transitions, timing, overlays, effects, and sound editing.
