SW Route Anyone?

About 145 miles

Would like to go on a Sunday morning maybe after a coffee some place.

Here is the route I want to try.

http://www.motowhere.com/maps/route/...ville-and-Back

I'm really not so sure about the northern area, There seems to be quite a lot of farm, and from photos some road surfaces look like they may or not be good to ride on.

331 is a lot further from the river than I thought, but there are roads that run right along the river, I'm really not sure on the quality of those, they may be very nice, or dirt roads, or somewhere inbetween. There is a LOT of farm to pass through, but the roads overall look nice.

1458 looks soooo good.
949 has big long sweepers on a good surface.

Mill Creek Rd looks pretty sketchy. http://tinyurl.com/6t7wvx5

Okay, this needs serious revision, I will keep up on this later.

I've done a route similar to that starting from SE.

I would change the route a little to hit 1458 into Brookshire. (The road is locally know as racers road).

Definately a long haul with a lot of "straight".

I know being on your bike for a few hours can seem long, but that's the point of a ride. Remember
Eat, sleep, ride. Thats jmo. Other than the heat. The longer the funner.

yea that's waaay too straight.. almost as straight as Pinballs original routes originating from 288/518. He has modified it to where it cut off a lot of straights.

Problem with most routes are there are alot of straights to get to the twisties... Its just like when i go on a forest run... that run down 249 is way long... and way straight....

Ive been working on this one to take from the SOUTHEAST. Haven't taken it yet though. It's a little further south from what you had on the map.

J E.... i know those roads pretty well, but around smithers lake they arent in very good shape. lots of dirt and dust from dirt roads and also smithers lake is a coal burning power plant with coal dust all around at times.

Okay, what if we hit 1489 rode up the river then take 90 east to 359 onto 1458 (Racer's Road), bust a right at San Felipe to ride past Stephen F. Austin State Park. A left on 331 to head North on 36 to get onto 949 then take that to Mill Creek Rd (seems interesting from the map, I wanted to hit this road).

Then head past Bellville onto Coshatte Rd. to get to 331 and then travel back through 1458, 359, and 1489.

This should be scenic and avoid MOST of the straight from the original route.

I'll see if I can draw it up on this website, but let me know if anybody has any interest or suggestions.
