Saw a pretty spectacular bike crash today...

Up in NW Houston. Young guy on a Harley locked up the rear brakes going through a red light at an intersection (guess he didn't see the red light until it was too late). He literally fishtailed between a car or two crossing the intersection, hit the rear bumper of one car, jumped a curb as a result (the impact sent him off the road and onto a grassy verge) - he flew into the air, as did the bike, and landed some 30 feet from the intersection. Bike looked a bit banged up, but not terrible (dented tank, broken headlight and indicator). Rider looked fine except for a twisted (or perhaps broken) ankle. He was up and walking around minutes later on his cell phone. He was wearing no gear at all, and is incredibly lucky to have landed softly on grass IMHO. He was in surprisingly good spirits, though probably in shock.

Like I said, a spectacular crash with one lucky guy who emerged vritually unscathed. I thought I was going to see someone die as the horror unfolded before me, but thankfully saw little more than a bruised ego and insurance claim.
