semi retarded battery ?'s

so my sons chinese pos 4 wheeler has been sitting in the shed for 2 yrs now. finally got off my on it today, and started dis-assembling for a minor rebuild.

it has an everstart ES4L-BS battery, now when i search that, it says it's a 12 volt, i could have sworn it was only 6?

also, when i put it on the battery tender, it shows that its fully charged, yet when i put the voltmeter to the battery, it says its only pushing .22 volts.

A: is it a 12 volt system?
B: the voltmeter should be set on DC to check a battery?
C: if the tender says its fully charged after sitting for 2 yrs, im sure it's probably BAD!?

B: Yes
C: Probably

I was just re-reading and I should point out the voltmeter needs to be on DC VOLTS, not DC Amps.
Just to clarify in case you are unfamiliar...

thanks, i knew it had to be on volts, just was unclear on the actual voltage of the battery. tried charging the battery for a bit, off the charger it was showing 10.XX volts. i hooked it up and nothing. checked the + and - of the starter solenoid, was showing the same 10.XX volts, still no worky, tried the starter as well, + and -, with no reading, so im guessing the starter is bad. or the battery is still not pushing the CCamperage to turn anything?

Batteries left for that long tend to sulfate, that is they build up deposits that short them out and are generally toast after that.
