Guy here at work rides one as a sport tourer with GIVI bags and VFR bars. Still a great looking machine. To me, the new VFR1200 is more of a Blackbird replacement than a VFR800 successor. I like these open class sportbikes that don't pretend to be race replicas and are great riding steet machines. The Busa and ZX14 have taken the formula too far into the dragster extreme. I like power, but not that much.

The great ones are less well known. I borrowed a buddies TLR1000, had someone ask me if it was a first gen Hayabusa I WISH Honda had made Blackbirds for a longer period (so I could have found one when I was in the market for another bike ).

186-200 RWHP is about perfect for a sport tourer...

I still like them and wouldn't mind having one as a commuter. If have to get an 01 or later though so I could get fuel injection.

They are smooth riding bikes with plenty of power. You can get good deals on black birds when you find them available.

considering that the Blackbird is older than most of the people on this forum why would you expect them to know what it is?

Those who really ride know what the Blackbird is..

Back in the day a guy offered to let me ride his at a party. I had eaten 3 hits of acid about 2 hours prior. I decided I better not ride the thing. Looking back I wish I would have taken him up on his offer. I have never had another opportunity to ride one.

LOL, guess the 2012 GSXR 1K is borderline obsolete already.
