That is a good thing. You don't want something that is too common.

If the bike works for you, don't go chasing the latest and greatest.

What do you mean obsolete NOW? I figured they've been obsolete for over half a decade now.

if you like it, roll with it. is it obsolete? yes. has been for a looooong time. that doesn't mean that it's not a good machine though.

Yep. The bird was the most hyped bike out when it appeared but it's very short reign as king was totally crushed by the busa.

Enjoy it, it's a very nice bike.

That's part of the attraction.

Yes the technology is dated, but they are awesome bikes and I don't know of a better sport tourer. They won't outrun a Busa, but they are still fast.

Couple that with the fact that the one I just sold (I haven't been riding) used to cost me less than $100/yr for insurance and depreciated all of $500 during the four years that I owned it, I think it's a pretty awesome bike for those who know of it and can appreciate it. There are die-hard fans who will travel half way across the country to buy it from you if it's in outstanding condition.

Define "obsolete."

Does not being fastest make it obsolete? Then yes

Does not having a slipper make it obsolete? Then yes

Does not having a factory quick shifter make it obsolete? Then yes

Does not having the latest suspension tricks make it obsolete? Then yes

Does not having the latest radial-mount monoblock brakes make it obsolete? Then yes

Does having a giant banana seat with no single-seat cowl make it obsolete? Then yes

Does no longer functioning as a reliable motorcycle for which you can still source repair parts make it obsolete? Then no.
