Trailer Rental

So I'm in a bit of a bind because I need to find a trailer to rent to take to MSRH on Sunday. For most people that's not that big of a deal because of Uhaul, but I own a Ford explorer and because of that stupid with Firestone back in the day Uhaul refuses to rent trailers to them.

So does anyone know a place in Houston that can rent a trailer (big enough for two bikes) on the weekend? (other thing is that I have an out of state DL)

Hmmm anyway I could get them updated? I'm on traffic probation so I can't afford to get pulled over.

There are other places besides uHaul, google trailer rentals and you'll find a bunch of farm/feed stores and tractor & trailer shops that rent them.
And get rid fo the Firestones.

Or borrow a vehicle to go pick up the U-Haul. Then move the trailer to your Explorer once off their lot.

Instead of wasting money on rentals, get a 4x8 at Harbor freight or Northern Tool for $200-$300.

I'll loan you my trailer, it's like a 5x10....good tires, working lights, current registration and a folding ramp on the rear. Leave me a decent deposit and sign a liability waiver.

looks pitiful due to outside storage and used for many years loading old fences. Even has 2 wood wheel chocks and tie down points for two bikes....warning, no spare tire....uses 2" ball and 3 flat, 1 pin light connector.

Yeah I've found a bunch the problem is that most stipulate that you need a TX driver license since they're local, which I don't have.

Dbuck thanks! I actually am borrowing a trailer from Texlurch now so I should be set now, but if that falls through I will get in contact with you.

On my long list of things I need to buy, but for right now I'm going to borrow one. Plus I live in an apartment and move frequently so storage becomes an issue.

Depends on your use, for many people that it is actually more economical to rent. Trailer cost + sales tax + title + maintenance + $58 annual registration. And then you need to have a place to store the trailer also.

U-Haul m/c trailer is only $16 day after tax and very heavy duty unlike the HF.

If you have to rent a storage space to keep the trailer, then it's not worth it. A colleague of mine used to leave his trailer at the company parking lot.

I bought my 4x8 at HF on sale for $250. A sheet of treated plywood was $40 maybe. TTL wasn't much, probably $50 or so. I actually didn't register it for the first 5yrs I owned it since I only used it for Home Depot runs just outside my subdivision. I only registered it since I got back to riding. Annual reg is $45 I think. Maintenance is next to none. I just pump grease into the wheel bearings once in a while.

You can get a foldable trailer at HF cheap, if storage space is at a premium.
