new gadgets report

Got a new lid, testing it out. It is an HJC carbon fiber. Fits much better compared to my old HJC 12, and doesn't flop around at elevated speeds and in traffic. I still get a little lift at 120 or so, but it is steady and not moving up and down like the old one. Also much lighter, and the wind noise is much more pleasant. The HJC 12 had an annoying rumble; the new one sounds different and is not at all unpleasant, without ear plugs. Still need to test it out some more in the "twisties", but so far so good. Can't comment on the vents yet, as it was a bit cold so they stayed closed.

The other gadget is a Scott steering dampner we installed on Pigpen's ZR12; he had a mild head shake on decell, and this looks to have solved that issue. Very nice piece, with 3 different damping adjustments. Install was straight forward, had to trim a bit and grind a bit, then weld.
An added plus is no rod sticking out, to impale yourself on....

And I tossed in a pic of the dynosaurs.. standards are cheap to insure, and comfy for us old farts!! :laughing6 :icon_bigg

Nice lid...if you don't mind me asking...how much? I'm in the market and have always liked the carbon fibre look of the HJC.

pm price if necessary.

I can definitely see stability improvements - it's easier to hold a line in the corners. Still fine tuning to remove all the headshake when hammering on it through (or coming out of) the corners. Like Texlurch mentioned, we really havent tested very much yet, but plan to on Tuesday. I'm taking the week off work :biggthump

I have MLK day off, so I should be able to ride then too

Tim,
The installation looks great!! Glad it's working well for you.

I agree on the HJCs, the higher end models seem to have come a long way from where they were.
I was checking out a few of the newer ones we got in stock and even did a test ride with a demo model. I was pleasntly surprised; Good helmets!
