06 yz450 sm conversion questions

Where can I find the parts to do this at? Or can someone tell me where i can find used parts to do this with i am looking for a cheaper route than going brand new. I need pretty much everything, 17 in rims, tires, light, wire harness, and as much info on this conversion as possible lol. I am pretty much over street bikes and racing motocross I need a change so any info will help my name is lance.

Pm gbailas, he has a yz450 tard set up but no light set up.

The cheaper route would be to lace 17" loops on your stock hubs. So u would need spokes and rims. The lighting kit would be a lil difficult cuz u need a big stator to power them up. I forgot the website that sells everything but Im sure someone will post it.

Thumper talk is where u wanna go for all the info.

If you're looking for used parts check out http://supermotojunkie.com/
and http://www.thumpertalk.com/index

Buchanans sells spoke kits and rims to be able to lace 17" rims to your hubs.

http://www.buchananspokes.net/

I can supply you with them as well as brake upgrades.

i just gathered parts and built up my own wheels/brakes.

harvested MC from a YFZ, caliper from a 426 and machined my own bracket for a 310DRZ rotor. (the DRZ rotor fits the stock 99-06 front hub), that was what i used before i went to a 320 rotor, which i bought a bracket for and went back to the 426 MC and caliper.

i think i did everything for under $1k....but the labor is what saved me i think.

Could someone please point me to the thread where guys are taking motards and converting them to sort of a cafe bike (dropped handle bars, etc)? I can't find it. Thanks!

Try these for a start...older, but may be what you want.

Thanks, Tojo! This stuff is great and really interesting, especially the 450 conversion to the sport bike.

The thread I was referring to was recent thread about taking a motard and turning it into a cafe-type bike for town. It was sort of like these bikes, just not quite as "formal" as a building an entire sport bike with a kit. I'll keep looking. Just toying with the idea.
