While I'm reasonably handy with my TIG, that's something I'd trust to a profesional. You are going to have to trench out along the crack and are going to lose the use of a couple holes right there, but if you are OK with that I can put you in touch with a really good guy to get it fixed.

Contact Colin at www.toxicfab.com - tell him Ian sent you over. He has done a lot of work on some custom parts for my drift miata including some nice aluminum work. He'll be able to take care of that no problem.

Send a message via AIM to Romeo36
I wouldn't weld it period. I would take it to somebody and have them duplicate it.

Yeah, beveled and then clean really good. I could give you a hand, but I ran out of argon, and I use a MIG welder, but TIG is better.

Alright I received a reply from the guy over at toxicfab. He informed me that fab of a rearset plate isn't what he does. The shifter itself is fine. I don't want to spend the money on a whole new set if all i need is a bracket. Any other ideas?

Is the spacer flat or does it have a curve? Looks simple to make if it's flat. Get a drill press and vise and go to town!

Call American Heliarc on Pinemont and get it welded.
Then redrill the affected holes, clean up with the proper metric tap and be done.

Alright here's the game plan. Big Thanks goes out to rubbersidedown. He PM'ed me and is going to get me into contact with his father-in-law to get a plate fab'ed up. I have no experience with a drill press and wouldn't even know where to begin. I'll have pics up if it all works out.

No way!

You'll never get the penetration needed to keep it from breaking again.

Really? I don't inspect weld repairs for a living or anything. The penetration is in the art that is welding
