Need Advise

So to make a long story short I was seeing a young lady who asked me to co-sign on a bike, which i did (I know Bone Head idea). I really just want to move past it and take it as a learning experience. I have the bike and have the title after I finished paying it off. The dilema is, I want to sell the bike, but the title is in her name, and I dont know where she lives anymore and all attempts to contact her or anyone she knows fails. How do I go about sell it? It is a 2008 Ninja 250R Lowered with less than 500mi on it.

Well at least u have the bike and title. Another route would be to get a bonded title but I would try and find her. Do u have documentation of being a co signer? Or payments made out of your acct?

Yeah if you have documentation showing you made a majority of the payments out of your account and the loan paperwork where you cosigned... then I think you have legal basis for ownership. I could be wrong... I am an engineer not a lawyer...

How is the title in her name when you co signed??

It should be in your name

My mother co signed for a truck for me 10yr ago and the title came in her name.

1. Find her, get her to sign a power of attorney, go to DMV and request copy of title for $5 or whatever it is now.

2. Bonded title, lots of going to different places and $$$, but don't have to involve her at all.

3. Go to the court and/or DMV with documentation and see if you can claim ownership under circumstances. Lots of time and $$$ involved I'm sure.

I am not a lawyer, but these are a few of the ways these things I've seen work out.
Good luck man.

The title is usually in the primary borrower's name, not the co-signer, unless the co-signer is smart like your mom

That's how I'm leaning at the moment. It just takes a mutual buyer to the arrangement.
