Arrow IOM TT 2012

As so it begins

Quote:
Undisputed Isle of man TT superbike king John McGuinness turns screw with first 130mph lap of the week, says he was 'held up' by slower riders.

The first 130mph lap of TT2012 was achieved on the infamous Mountain circuit on Wednesday and inevitably it was 17-times winner John McGuinness who managed the feat.

The Honda TT Legends rider lapped at 130.079mph to up the ante on his second lap, but revealed later he lost around 'five or six seconds' after being held up by some slower riders.

Kiwi Bruce Anstey was hot on his tail though, blazing a trail on the Padgetts Honda Fireblade to lap at an average speed of 129.566mph, less than four seconds slower that the Morecambe star.

Wilson Craig Honda's Cameron Donald continues to impress on the superbike in particular and his lap of 129.075mph was especially eye-catching considering he recorded the time from a standing start.

The session was cut short at 7.45pm due to mist around the course, which would have prevented the air ambulance from taking off in the event of an accident.

The Sidecar practice session was cancelled as a result.

Not unusually, Tyco Suzuki's Guy Martin has been in the headlines this week after his crash in the Pre-TT Classic Superbike race at Billow nans continued speculation about his future in the Northern Ireland team.

However, the tea-swilling truck mechanic and sometimes television celebrity is gradually increasing the tempo on the GSX-R1000 and produced his best lap of the week so far at 128.866mph to throw his hat into the ring.

Like his Tyco team-mate Conor Cummins, Martin has yet to win at the TT and desperately craves that elusive victory on the Isle of Man.

Bournemouth Pr1mo Kawasaki's James Hillier turned a few heads as he clocked the fifth quickest time at 127.811mph ahead of Ulsterman Michael Dunlop (127.546mph) on the Hunts Motorcycles/McAdoo Honda.

Looks like rain for Saturday, but then again, when doesn't it?

130 prior to race day is incredible. These lads alway find a few seconds here and there on the day. Should be a great show.

HD Theater (now Versus) did in the past, but sadly not live or even close. it was always way after the fact. I haven't seen any commercials either, but I will keep an eye on it and post it.

That was good. Get a different perspective when you watch and listen from one place.
