Expired plate citation?

Hey Forum,
I was on my way to Pattison and had to turn around because my rear wheel was sideways, and got an expired plate citation on the way back. Can you get a lawyer for that and get it dismissed like a speeding ticket, or do I just have pay The Man and faghettaboudit?
Also does it affect your insurance rate like a speeding ticket?

So if I go to court with renewed plates the judge probably won't charge me the fine right?

Got stopped a while back in Hitchcock. LEO was real nice and told me he stopped me because even though I left turned into the inside lane correctly, I then supposedly moved to the outside lane without signaling. I was about to trade in my ZX10R so I had just washed it and taken off the insurance papers and registration, etc. from the bike while I was at it.

He could've written me up for more tickets, but he only gave me the "no inspection sticket" one.

Got my bike inspected the next weekend, then took the receipt to the Hitchcock courthouse. Paid $25 court cost. That's it.

Make sure that when you go to get your registration renewed, that you tell the clerk that you received a ticket for expired registration. They will add a $5 or $10 (I forgot how much exactly) charge to your total, and add that line item to your receipt. You'll need the receipt which shows that your paid that charge when you go to get it dismissed.

I don't know what would happen if you didn't pay that fee, but I would rather have all my ducks in a row.

LOL, must be mighty impressive to see all his Duc's lined up in a row.

Anyhow, I would imagine the County Assessor's office should know if your reg has expired or not, and make you pay the added fee. But never hurt to ask.
