Insurance drop at 25?

I have to itch to move up to a SS bike from the SV I have now and I'd be financing it for a little while. The biggest thing holding me back are the premiums. I've gotten quotes from Progressive and Dairyland in the 170-180mo range for what I'm looking at buying.

I'm currently 24, squeaky record and a couple months away from 25. I'm hoping for at least a 15% drop, the more the merrier.

What did your insurance do at the 25 mark?

Mine went down marginally. I know 2 people that said when they asked the agent, they said, "You already have that discount for some reason... it won't be going down."

How long have you been riding? Most people I know saw a drop at their 1 year mark.
Mine dropped from $29 to $27.xx a month

thats actually a pretty good price for being 24. I was getting quotes in excess of 6k a year when i was 21-22.

Get married, have kids, carry a mortgage for a few yrs, and watch your premium drop like the Walmart commercials.

... which is useful because of how much marriage, kids, and a home cost!

For most guys all that happens when you get older and are really what lowers your risk profile as far as the insurance companies are concerned, which is what drops your insurance premium. The age thing kinda just happens to be.

They figure if you have a wife and 2 kids waiting for you to come home and pay the mortgage, you'll be a lot more careful when you are on the road.
