Stupid Harley question

Does a 1200 have 2 or 4 spark plugs? Do you have options? Reason for asking was this ad on Craigslist made me stop and thing.
1997 Harley Davison Sportster 1200S
35K miles.
Extras: Custom painted FatBob gas tank. Silver flames over black. Front and rear fender match. Rear fender chopped for bobber look.
Forward controls
Converted to chain drive
Rear mounted license plate with led brake light.
Double disk front break
Option for 4 spark plugs but currently running on 2.
Stage 1 air cleaner kit.

never seen a vehicle with optional spark plugs... Would they make spark plug shaped plugs so that you can insert/remove them? Don't want 1/2" holes in the top of your cylinders...

Obviously he did some mods to the bike (belt to chain,etc.). Maybe he upgraded the heads and ignition. Also, maybe it really was an option in '95 and became standard later on? IDK

wow. is that really something that should be optioned? what are the pros/cons/effects, etc?

seems like something as intricate as a MC motor would be engineered all to and something like spark plugs would have been sorted out from the factory for optimal performance.

When Harley introduce F.I. a few years back it was an option. There are even aftermarket dual plug head/ignition for my old '74 ironhead. I understand what you are saying, but the HD v-twin is not as intricate as a modern sportbike engine. Again, I'm not saying it WAS in option, but I wouldn't put it past them especially if engineering was already there.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

Yes, there are some sportys that have twin plugs. Personally, I'd be concerned about a twin spark motor running on single plugs.

We're talking about HD here.

I mean, come on, there are still HD owners that miss the kickstarters and want to convert their FI bikes to carbs...
