GONNA BE MY FIRST TD @ TWS (Texas World Speedway) ON THE 28TH
SO IM TRYING TO GET THE CHECK LIST FINISHED UP

*WHAT R U GUYS WEARING UNDER YOUR LEATHERS?
UNDER ARMOR LIKE MATERIAL I WOULD GUESS
SHOULD I WEAR MY KNEE BRACES LIKE IN MOTOCROSS?
NEVER WORN A ONE PIECE SUIT BEFORE

*DO WE HAVE TIME TO DRESS AND UNDRESS BETWEEN RIDING SESSIONS?
FULL GEAR TO SHORTS AND A TEE TO COOL OFF WHILE IN CLASS?

*WHAT TAPE DO YOU GUYS USE TO COVER LIGHTS?
WILL IT STICK IF MY FRONT LIGHT IS ON
OR
SHOULD I FIND THE FUSE BOX TO UNPLUG LIGHTS

*MY GSXR HAS THE TURN SIGNALS IN THE MIRRORS
WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THOSE
TAPE AND PULL THEM BACK

THANKS

I keep the leathers on. Don't wear under armor but I should. Keep the leathers on and just take the top off(unzip) and wear it like that. You do have some time, but you will be rushing and it could get annoying.

Painter's take, no need to unplug lights, I have left them on n the past.
*MY GSXR HAS THE TURN SIGNALS IN THE MIRRORS

Tape them and pull them back.
THANKS
Congratulations on your first TD.

I might see you out there.

I have two sets.. one is a one piece under armor type material, it is made by a*stars. The other is a two piece combo of an under armor brand pull over and a padded pair of shorts

I do not see the need for your motocross stuff, the leathers will have protection and you have your pucks at the knees too..

I never take my leathers all the way off, just take the top and roll it off my shoulders and put a strap around my waist and just let them hang, I have seen guys who do take them off

*WHAT TAPE DO YOU GUYS USE TO COVER LIGHTS?

folks do it different ways, I just use blue painters tape, i have never had it stick... I also put the painters tape in a square shape in the windshild and put the level sticker there, I have had them stick before and the painters tape makes it easy to take them off

*MY GSXR HAS THE TURN SIGNALS IN THE MIRRORS
WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THOSE
TAPE AND PULL THEM BACK

THANKS
mine to not do that, so i will leave that answer to other GSXR owners, I always just take my mirrors off and tape up my turn signals.

I'll try to help a little.

Lots of riders wear silky Underarmour and bike shorts. Some wear armoured shorts by Knox or other brands. Some riders have entire silky undersuits, like the ones made by Ride Smart Taichi (popular) or A-stars.

It will be hot, so between sessions you'll have enough time to just pull down the top of your leathers. That's what 99% of riders do.

Painters tape works fine. You can get it off easily when you're done. It will stick with your lights on.

Just tape up the mirrors and lights. You can pass inspection that way.

Good luck and be safe. Remember to take it easy and BE PATIENT. It takes a long time to even begin to master TWS (Texas World Speedway). You want to be able to go home happy so you can come back again soon.

The one piece leather offers the protection you need for the track, minus a Back protector, but you dont need it for LVL 1

Congrats on your first td Blake! Try using some ear plugs. Helped me a lot blocking out hi-pitch noises and let me Focus better.

You will be hooked! It's very addicting

When I did my track day I removed the mirrors, and put on mirror block off plates. You can use zip ties. Tapped off everything else. It would be better to disable the head light, and tape it. Have fun!

Blake,
Based on my experience, the most important thing to prepare prior to a TD is "Enough Sleep"!
I always end up sleeping only a few hours the night before, and by the time i hit the track, i start loosing concentration. This gets especially more severe after lunch time, and usually end up leaving a session or two on the table before i pack.
Will be either at TWS (Texas World Speedway) or GSS. Still not decided, but if at TWS (Texas World Speedway), will be with some of the experienced guys like Rykoson, Newrider, etc so can get help and learn more. Look for us so can help you with whatever you may need for the first day.
Welcome to the addiction!

I wear a UA-like LONG SLEEVE top, and ua-like shorts. Lots of people wear full length tights too.

Not really. I mean, you could if you wanted to, but most people don't. They just unzip their one piece down to the waist, and let it hang off them in class so their upper body cools.

painter's tape. It shouldn't stick, but its best to pull the fuse or unplug the bulbs anyway.

I used to have an '07 gsxr 1k that I tracked that was equipped similarly. I would just pull the mirror entirely. Takes about 10 minutes to yank both mirrors. They each have their own plug for the turn signal.

Plan is to remove leg brace tomorrow when I see the orthopedist for a follow up. Turns out I fractured the top of my tibia.
