Question Packing heat @ rallys

Got a question , when you attend Rallys , do you usually pack your handgun ?
I do , [ not insdie the rally though , just on the road ] not for trying to be a bad at the rallys , but for protection for me & my wife while out on the road .
I know sometime riding the back roads & stuff , you can run into people who try to run you off the road , throw something at you , or the common crimminals who would rob you ro al least try to.
I am mostly laid back , law abiding , chl carrier .
Just wondering , we are ehaded to Austin to the ROT Rally in a few weeks.

I've been to one rally in galveston...never again, too much machismo and hotheaded people. I took my wife and honestly felt unsafe the whole 20 mins I was there

I carry mine 24/7, I have one in my car at all times. I carry a smaller one when I ride.

I bring mine to work, even though your not supposed to, everyone I work with knows it too.

I have been asked by the legal team here at work why I carry at work, what I do with it while it's in the car and I'm in the office. They are currently re-vamping the concealed carry policy for employees here.

Call it being paranoid, or what have you, but I believe in being prepared for anything. People are ignorant, and will hurt you. Some people do not value human life as much as I value my own.

If I'm not drinking I will carry at the rally. With all the people around you never know, then again I've yet to have an issue with anyone at the bike events, I dont see the macho stuff folks are talking about. Just a bunch of people revving engines and slamming beers and cheering them on while cops write tickets and arrest folks for burn outs. It's a great place to people watch lol

Cool , I carry mine to work & everywhere else.
I work downtown & my bike is parked next to the security guard shack in the garage along with several others.
At rallys , I usually leave it in my saddlebag .
We try to avoid the wilder areas of bike rallys , seems to me that is when most trouble starts.
I always carry within the law limits , we don't hit clubs much ,so not much of a worry there for me.

yep , inside the rallys , I let the leo do their job of keeping us out of harms way.
To me drinking & guns just don't mix well , tempers prevail .
I personaly have not had a probelm at any ofthe rallys that I have attended , I park my bike in a attended lot , lock up , check on it from time to time , stay mostly sober minded & just enjoy the bikes , crowd & stuff.
Although it seems to me that ROT Rally is a little more rowdy , imo.

All the time, only time I'm not carrying is in the shower. But it's within reach even then.

All that is needed is one exception to debunk a statement of absolute behavior.

I never carry and regularly go to LSR. I grew up on the south side of Chicago and commuted to work as a white as a ghost, 136lb, 6'4" teenager on the 95th street bus and the L to downtown; if you think the LSR is rowdy you ain't seen .

I never drink unless I'm comfortable, I walk around with +$1,000 worth of camera equipment, and don't have a bad attitude. I think the problem may be the last bit.

most rallies today post they do not want you to bring weapons, but if i were to go I would have mine... I tend to stay away from rallies though, I tend to be an magnet and I am getting to old to have much of a sense of humor when it comes to that... too many weekend wannabe's, get their first harley, get their first tattoo and go billy bad on the weekend... when I want to hangout with other riders, i do a local track day, or race TMGP or go to a local central meet. as the song says, you find a better class of loser there.

When bringing a gun to a place like this, think to yourself how many other people also have a weapon of their own. Use the heat as a last resort, never flash it as a warning either, it only provokes.
