when we get married....90% of our guests give us money as a wedding gift, family tends to give more. most asian people profit from a wedding, and use the profits to buy a home or what not. i just want the wedding to be an experience me, the wife to be, friends/family will never forget. if she wants rascal flatts, i'll try my best. you only live once right?
I'm sorry, but thats just plain assinine to spend that kinda money to impress someone. To me, I'd be more impressed that someone cared enough to think of it, then put that money in a cd for the future kids and their college fund.
3 songs 20k, come on man, if she loves you, she too will think that a blatant waste of funds, and I dont care who you are, and how much you make or have saved thats just rediculous to toss it out the window for 30 minutes or less. buy soe freaking property, buy some cd's at a decent rate for savings, do some creative investing and make that money make more money. blah, blah, blah
sad, wonder how many people 20 k can feed, or how much 20k + 18-20 years savings time would be worth to a teenager looking at college expenses.

I also doubt that the asian family would think you wise to drop their bundle on a group, when a freaking radio cost 100 or so.

And you need a whole band of other guys for that?

I am with Scooter Trash on using that money for something more useful. Let the wedding be a wedding where you and her are the stars and not a band.

it's not a question of happiness being valuable, but how much happiness are they getting for their $$$. 10 minutes of listening to some band play some songs or the many other things that could be bought for the same price. i like faylarcia's wording about the bride and groom being the stars. maybe for some people having the band there in real life (for 10 minutes), as opposed to playing their CD on the stereo, is really worth the extra 20+ thousand dollars, but i think the issue here is that that is hard to fathom for a lot of us. maybe we shouldn't be imposing our views on others though.

not a problem....i see it as constructive criticism. our wedding will have 600-1000 guests, and i'm really sick and tired of going to friends/family wedding with lame bands/wedding singers that they pay 5k for a night of crappy music. who knows, maybe i'll find a tribute band or somethin to come play for cheap.

it's not the money, it's the experience that makes it worth it. but you're right, maybe i'll take the money and buy the new ducati 1098

I'm having a hard enough time dealing with the fact that I'll be dropping like 10K on the WHOLE wedding when I get married, let alone 20K on 30 minutes of time. Perhaps, you could buy her front row tix and airfare to every Rascal Flatts show while on tour in the U.S. this year. I'm sure you'd end up ahead that way!!!
