Question impurities/chunk of something in tire

I noticed what looked like another nail in my front tire (michelin pilot power 2ct).

I got a plug ready and went to pull the "nail" out and discover it's not a nail.

It appears to be a small brown rock (seems metallic almost like a chunk of break pad) about 1/4 inch diameter and it is bonded into the rubber.

Sems like it was there when the tire was molded but I don't know.

Should a be given?

No Shall Be Given... nah its most likely a chunk of road garbage that got picked up when your tires where warmed up and tacky giving the appearence of being molded in once they cooled.

good question, thanks Ed.

No it dosn't appear to be leaking. Tried soapy water and nothing.

There does seem to be a bit of void space behind it, as I can press it into the tire and it remains deeper in the tire than the surface of the tire.

I can dig under it and the tire dosn't seem to lose any air.

It's actually pretty deep below the surface, not just on the surface more like it melted the tire to get like that.

The pic with the key, the object is holding the key not me.

i suggest removing said debris, and make sure it has not punctured the tire. It appears as a small iron nail possibly.

Dig it out. Otherwise it will work its way further in as the tire wears and will eventually start to leak. Maybe fill the divot with silicone if you're worried about anything else getting in there.

I'm going to dig it out when I get home

I will examine it and find out what it is. If it is a rock, I'm a geologist and should be able to figure out what it is.

thanks guys
