raising forks in triple clamps

I have been enjoying the ninja 1000 but the front end feels light, like it is not planted in turns.

So I had the suspension set up at Motorcycles Unlimited and that got rid of the pitching and diving but the front end still feels light.

Today I read raising the forks 5mm in the triple clamps is recommended for this bike.

Is this something people typically do with bikes?
Is there a better approach to solve this problem?

the article says that switching to a 55 profile rear tire helps too. I would suggest trying this first. I cant imagine the stock tires being worth a .

dropping the forks is pretty common, it makes it "drop" in faster or more twitchy to some.
