Motorcycle Volunteers for the IRONMAN 2012 in the Woodlands

This is this Saturday May 19th

Ironman 2012 needs 10-15 more bikes to help out:

Contact info at the bottom.

Dear Riders,

Please reply to Greg Pennington and Phillip Satterfield via email with the digital copies of your documentation before noon on Friday May 18th. If you are unable to scan your driver’s license and proof of motorcycle insurance, Please take them to a photo copier and bring the photocopies with you Saturday morning. It will be easier if we can process everyone prior to the morning of the race.

The course map can be found at http://ironmantexas.com/course/bike/.

We need to know how many motorcycles can carry officials and media, water, simple med kits, etc…

Please reply with answers to the following questions:

What kind of motorcycle will you be riding? i.e. Sport, touring, cruiser, street legal endure, etc.

Will your bike have a back rest/ sissy bar/ top box?

Are you comfortable riding 2-up? This is not a requirement to participate but it is a primary need for the motorcyclist. There are 16 ride marshals and 7-8 media personnel needing motorcycle transport. Your personal safety is your primary concern. If you are not comfortable riding 2-up, don’t. The bicycle course has a lot of turns and you will be dodging racers the whole way.

Below are the things you should bring with you.

Required
Photo copy of Drivers license and Motorcycle insurance.

Required
Helmet for you. Required to participate regardless of TX law.

Suggested
Protective - jacket, gloves, sunglasses, long pants, boots.

Suggested
Sun block for bare skin.

Suggested
Water you can access while riding.

Suggested
Full gas tank Friday night. Check your tire pressure.

Suggested
Credit card to refill gas tank Saturday afternoon.

Suggested
Top box/sissy bar/backrest if carrying passenger.

Suggested
Snacks if you don't want GU, gels, or power munchies.

Suggested
Cellular telephone. To call in for assistance. You or the competitors.

Suggested
Whimsical sense of humor. Duct tape.

Suggested
Voyeuristic desire for exercise.

Maybe
Spare Half shell or 3/4 helmet for passenger.

Thank you for taking the time to volunteer for this event. Your participation is greatly appreciated. Ride safe.

Please talk with your motorcycle friends and acquaintances about volunteering. As of this morning we have 9-10 riders to carry 25 officials and cover ~112 miles of bicycle course. Volunteer sign up at http://ironmantexas.com/.

Thank you for volunteering.
