Touch up paint repair help

My fairings and side panels have rubbed the paint off my gas tank to where bare metal is exposed with signs of rusting. What do I need to do to fix it?

I plan on getting some thick clear vinyl and clear tubing to prevent the fairings/panels from rubbing so much and act as a buffer.
