Need an honest opinion!

Should I get a brand new 2012 shadow phantom? I've seen the reviews and they all say its pretty legit. Competes with the sportster 883 and whatnot. I know i can afford the payments but I kinda wanna know what my payments for full coverage insurance will be since I'm gonna be financing the bike. It's a 749cc engine and I'm 19 so if anyone has a clue please tell me!

Just resist! You can build credit paying credit card bills, phone bills, etc.

Call the insurance companies with the bike info and get quotes, then you'l know if you can afford it.

Who said it was going to be a toy. Call a couple of insurance companies and get quotes and see for yourself. Progressive is a good one for mc's or you can check out mytxinsurance.com and he will check on several companies for you.

Oh ok cool! Will do! And na its actually not a toy. This is gonna be my main transportation. The scooter I'm riding right now isn't very comfy to ride 100 miles to work a day so yeah lol. I need a cruiser. If the kawi wasn't so aggressive I wouldn't mind

If you're buying a bike to build credit you're an idiot....how much money are you willing to spend on interest to "build credit?" What are you building it for? To get another loan and go more into debt?

If it's so you can buy a house then save 20% of the purchase price and you'll be just fine...can always go the manual underwriting route....

Or if you have to have good credit...just get a cc and pay it off every month....

As for using for transportation....why buy something new if you're going to put 100 mi a day on the thing. Also, not the best thing for everyday use considering rain and things like groceries etc.

Maybe sell one of your other bikes or just get a beater Civic with good mileage.

Not trying to be a , but many people were young like you once and made many financial mistakes. Just trying to pass along some advice.

You're not good at saving up but you can make payments every month? It's tempting as to get a new bike, but it's not worth it. Esp if it gets stolen.

Well I actually am trying to buy a house too honestly. Trying to get it out of the way now so i won't have to worry about it later since I'm not married nor have kids. And i can just take my truck to the grocery store!

Yeah man! If it gets taken away from my account before I get my hands on it I deff can afford it. But that's the thing! I live in the country and I work in a gated place were there's security and i park where the cameras can see.

Didn't realize you had another mode of transportation, thought you mentioned it was a primary form of transportation...

If you're going to buy a house in the next 6 months, definetly don't finance a bike. New loans don't help with loan approval..

You probably aren't going to save your money because you're 19 and no one is good with money at that age including myself. But if you can avoid temptation and save save save then when you're 30 and you and your friends are starting families they will be stressing about money and you will have fat stacks in bank and a smile on your face knowing that you can afford whatever happens.

Yeah but to work... I was killing 500 a month just to go to work everyday. So yeah I dropped that and got a bike. But once I get the phantom I'll give the kawi to my bro and he'll handle the insurance for that. But I probably won't get a house till like next year. I'll just get the bike and say I'm gonna pay it on like 2 years but I know i can kill it in like a year. Or even less!

I'm still young.. just save all the money you would've spent on the bike payments and use it to buy a used bike. you'll save a ton.
