My family did pretty close to that same trip 40 years ago when I was a kid. Some awesome sights to see. A bear got into our cooler when we were camping in Banff, so watch out for the critters. Take lots of pics. Some GoPro video would be good too.

Try REI for the waterproof bags.

I'm afraid once I got up there I would just stay.

Not crazy at all! I am taking off next month for 3 weeks and heading to the Pacific Coast Highway, Yosemite, Oregon back down around through the Rockies in Colorado and back to Houston. Banff looks awesome, I have been through the rockies a few times and if you need some advice on some good routes hit me up. Rocky Mountain National park will be a nice slow ride if you go on the weekend. There is usually a lot of traffic.

I got a nice sized wolfman dry duffel bag on happy-trails.com and another from rei outlet. I'll find the links in a sec.

Back in 1994 I rode across Canada and into Alaska. I was gone for a year living off the bike. One of the coolest things I saw in that year was Crater Lake. Make sure you get there. Camp there if you can.

No. One of the guys going (3 total) wanted to but with our schedule we wouldn't get to go to Kenai or McCarthy and I want to visit a friend there.

We're trailering to his parent's house in Athol, ID and here's our route from there.

Being single helps that's for sure.

Going to start a new thread before the ride starts. I will do my best to keep everyone updated.
