Riding Three Up

So the other night two friends of mine and I decided to go to the nearest food store to get food to cook. One of them is a traveler from Australia and another is my roommate.

With no mean of transportation other than my bicycle we decided to try to ride with all three of us on my bike.

I was sure it would'nt be too difficult because I had just recently rode as a third passenger on a moped with no problems.

We all get on and my bike is fired up. I ask if everyone is ready they say yes and I say hooooold on as I slowly let out the clutch and begin to accelerate.

My bike tips a little to the left and before I have time to correct I put my foot down as it inevitably falls right over. I think they both had their heads over my left shoulder.

We had travelled approximately a foot an a half.

I was thoroughly embarassed and we all had a good laugh. We ended up with my roommate riding my bike and the traveller as my passenger. Nobody was hurt despite all three of us getting our legs pinned and we ended up concocting a delicious coconut curry.

Anybody have any success or failure stories of riding with two passengers?

I'll make this quick. I once gave a chick a ride home (she was smoking hot wearing a long white summer dress!) She fancied the idea of riding on the back of my bike more than I did. I hit the road to 59s towards her house. When we arrived she looked embarrassed and ashamed. I asked what was going on and she replied, "my dress kept on flying over my head and I'm not wearing any underwear!

All successes, have done it hundreds of times. My record is 5 people, 3 adults and 2 children. Rode a 110cc scooter about 30 miles this way, first and last 2 miles on a rutted dirt road.

It is good passenger skills that make this possible. Even the best rider will go down if your passengers don't know what they're doing.
