Rider Down (Franz Rd. near Mason Rd.)

Cops got the road blocked off right now but from what my brother saw it's a bigger bike (cruiser). The bike is pretty messed up and the body was in a bodybag from what he saw. His/her helmet was about 50 feet away from the body. . May they Rest In Peace. This is not a good start for the new year. :eh:

I hate to say it but I'll bet it was strapped to his sissy bar and not his head.:BangHead:

I hate to think that also because I see way to many riders now-a-days with helmets strapped to the bikes and not on there heads. Never quite understood the point of that. I mean come on, is it cool or something to ride without a helmet on or what. If ya don't care about yourself atleast put it on for yer loved ones so if ya go down and don't make it, you family can atleast have an open casket.

I once came up next to a squid at a light with his helmet strapped to the bike and asked him "why the aint yer helmet on yer head" and he said "I only wear it at night". I said "so you mean to tell me when and if you go down it's going to happen at night?" he looked at me with a confused look on his face and when the light turned green he pulled into a gas station and put his helmet on.

My father was the one who inforced the helmet must worn at "ALL" times into my thick skull as a kid. But he himself was involved in a hit and run accident of which neither my father or step mother was wearing there helmets:BangHead: about 1yr ago. He was less than 300yards from his home when the accident happend. They was both fine after months recovering but I guess you can imagine the practice what you preach lecture I gave him when he got home. He couldn't even respond he just looked at me a shook his head . Some people are lucky and get a second chance but unfortunatly most will not. I'm not taking that chance.
Sorry to the family of the rider who was lost.

A cop buddy of mine called me as soon as he heard about the wreck over his radio to make sure it wasn’t me or anyone we ride with. When I called him back he said the other cops at the site were saying it was really bad. He was not wearing his helmet, his body was in one place, his head in another and his face somewhere else. He told me the story so far is that the guy was trying to race someone in a Cadillac and he lost control and hit a tree. Everyone remember to ride smart and always wear your gear, but in his case, it would not have made a difference.
