To the OP,

There have been several good tips and posts made here to hopefully help you learn to be a better rider in whatever fashion that may be. Above all, trust yourself to make the decision that works for you. Don't let anyone pressure you into doing anything you're not ready for.

(Coincidentally this advice also works for prison, prom dates, and showering at Solracer's house.)

I only offer one real warning:

Stay the away from any asshat on this forum that challenges other riders to prove who is faster on public roads or even at trackdays. It's a solid indication that you're dealing with a wannabe badass. These people have something to prove and will hurt someone to do it.

a private 4 lap race on a trackday is NOT going to happen.. not if the oraginzation knows about it... and if you do it and they catch you at it.... you might have seen the end of your trackdays with them. Now if you are in the mock race at the end of the day you might get to play a little with each other, but an open challenge to race on the forum might get you an invitation not to come. Even is jest, it will raise an eyebrow or two.

I don't think anyone really tries to teach a noob how to ride like on the track on the street on a noob ride. A noob ride is good for seat time.

To learn to go fast, you have to learn how to go slow.

Ive been on a noob ride and have seen people go down. Not saying the noob rides are bad but don't even compare it to a trackday what you can learn.

Why do you need more seat time befor the track? I've seen people buy a bike never touch the street and go straight to the track and it be ok and they learn all more.
Wrong sir, the track won't teach you how to deal with the elements of street riding, weather, traffic, obstacles, and again being comfortable on the bike. I mean there are some track people who can't even ride street, or shall i say prefer not too...same thing.

only thing I have to prove is on the fifty soccer field.

If it wasn't obvious I was trolling and I think Mike was too...I do not plan on racing anytime soon.

Done my share of crashing on both. Love all of the track time I did, but at least the insurance paid out on the street crashes.

Wack day track days. Why do all the people who do a handful of trackdays think its the best thing in world and only incompetent riders with no experience ride the street? however the real racers not the weekend warriors are some of the nicest folk and the most reasonable.
