Successful completion of the ERC allows a participant to:
- Understand the Texas Helmet Law
- Be eligible for an insurance discount (dependent upon the Insurance Carrier)
- Have a driving ticket dismissed (dependent upon the Courtís approval)

statistics prove you wrong. why do you think ins. is cheaper for older riders.

and thousands of people ride the street w/o crashing and w/o trackdays, FYI. trackday people may make up 1% of riders if that.

you've only been riding track for ? 4-5 mos? lol

try again.

Ive been on a noob ride and have seen people go down. Not saying the noob rides are bad but don't even compare it to a trackday what you can learn.

Why do you need more seat time befor the track? I've seen people buy a bike never touch the street and go straight to the track and it be ok and they learn all more.
Noone argued you learn more on the track. I was just going by what track organizations say are their minimum requirements.

From Ridesmart Website :

Level 1: Novice Group
You must:
•Have 6 months street riding experience.
•Have a minimum of 5000 miles riding experience.
•Have basic familiarity with motorcycle operation.
•Be comfortable riding at or above highway speeds.
•Adhere to all rules pertinent to the group.
If you have no prior MOTORCYCLE track experience you MUST register in this group, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Novice group receives free class room and on-track instruction, including critiquing of on-track skills. The class room sessions are MANDATORY. Instructors will accompany riders on all track sessions. During your classroom and on-track sessions you will learn the line-building technique, proper use of the throttle, braking, as well as basic cornering techniques and body positioning.

Eh fair point... didn't realize he had that much experience. I was going for a more generalized approach to noobieness. Get enough experience to feel comfortable -> Go to track to sharpen skills -> be safer on streets by increasing where the limit of your abilities are without progressing to push those limits in an environment not conducive to unsafe speeds.

I stand corrected in this specific case.

*edit* unless the OP has not had 5k worth of experience in 2 years which is possible.
