Airplane pulling a Gieco sign releases it and it hit motorcyclist

What are the odds of that happening. Just saw this on Channel 11 news. Happened in Southeast houston. It sounds like the pilot released the sign due to engine trouble. The sign when about 1/2 a mile and then struck the person on the motorcycle.
Looking for the link.

I was actually riding my bike when I saw that plane. It was flying within like 20 yards of another one advertising a dealer and doing crossover maneuvers.

Holy .

I saw that guy yesterday. He was doing dumb stuff flying really close to another plane also pulling a sign.

Though it was badass to watch

I don't think he'll want to sue when they say what they have to offer him. More than 15%. 16%.

Geico won't be held liable for this, though they may decide to throw in some consolation prizes for good PR. This type of advertising was most likely contracted through a marketing agency, where the client (Geico) is just a 3rd party paying for a service.

Sounds to me like the pilot / ad. agency is the party that should be lawyering up now.

They call that "formation flying".

I saw [probably] the same two planes on Friday near downtown and I've met a few guys who fly banner planes. Those guys are no dummies, they have tons of experience and know exactly what they're doing.

Crazy shot haha

I could see a car possibly getting nailed by this, but you would think a motorcyclist would be a bit more observant.
