I didnt realize that was plastic dip; thought it was paint. It had some clean, uniform color to it.

This is the chrome piece I mentioned in an above post. It's been like this over a month, parked outside at work and washed a few times. Holds up nicely.

i had a thread on my 600rr peg i did. it will hold up, pretty much until you slit it and peel it off. the more coats you put on the easier it will be to peel....go for 6-8 good coats

Anybody know how it holds up to heat? Not like I'm going to spray directly on an exhaust or anything. But how about NEAR an exhaust or under an engine bay?

The primary on my bike doesn't get extremely hot (if at all), but it does attach to the lower case which does get hot. It never showed signs of melting, bubbling, peeling, etc.

If you didn't want it to come back off, could you strip the part in question down to bare metal, hit it with some acetone to etch the metal, then apply (like you would apply a truck bed liner)? I am always looking for a cheap durable finish.
