Thayeal ^ great job also , never over your head and seat time is all it takes.

Matt I wouldnt have guess it was your 1st trackday, you did really well and after lunch i didnt worry a bit letting you go at it after following you for just a few laps.

Great job and you may need to get in the corner working program to help with cost.

When ever your back out Id love to help some more, we'll have you on the fasttrack to the next lvl in no time, next set of tires go for something a little more sticky so youll have the grip you need so we can grind them pucks down a little.

We pulled into pit straight and I pulled up beside him and he didn't say a word. Just shook his head . "You were off the line in several places. Follow Me and don't think just do." (WheelieDave I think has figured out I overthink everything at the track)

I followed him for a lap and the next he followed me and the session was over. I linked up with him again with the following result. " That was much better, much smoother. Whatever it is you did that last time , just do that from now on. I was finally like he isn't thinking, Thank !" I left that conversation with a big smile on my face...

Point is the instructors will help you even if you have shown them you are pretty hopeless your first few times they watch and are very good at perceiving not only the problems they see directly on the track but the underlying cause as well. I am far from conquering that hurdle but I got a little closer and with a little luck, a little skill, and a lot of help I will.
Yeah man you looked good out there and in looking at some of the pics from the day you were really looking good in those corners.

Thanks Dave for your help and advice that day. I look forward to honing my skills more this summer. I should be through these tires in no time.

Yeah I'm definitely going to be doing some corner working for the perks and also get more time watching some people go around that really know what they're doing while not having to worry about what I'm doing.

Thanks Dave you were a huge help. You really cleaned up my line following you the bus stop didn't give me any problems all day.

Matt if you ever need a ride to cornerwork on a day that I am riding you can certainly catch a ride with me to cut your cost down so you can get some track time!

Yea, the red versys with the blue tape on the windshield. I was in black leathers, sometimes with a white tshirt over them...gopro on the mostly yellow & blue suomy.

I was just out there having fun and learning the lines.

I am slow in the straights, then I get stuck behind the big bikes in the corners.

That is what its about.. having fun and learning the lines. I was just giving some friendly ribbing. I am super slow in the straights.. once I get the lines in the corners down I figure the straights are the easy part.

Thayleal,

Thank you for your added commentary on the instructors attitudes and skills and patience. I tend to learn by watching first, then doing. Following an expert through a line makes sense and vice versa. When I learned to race snowmobiles on a banked oval, it was the same procedure (40 years ago!). I need to make a track day a priority and execute. My travel and work schedule prevent that from happening until after early July. This is a great discussion, thanks to all!
